Meal Rate Increase

The state Board of Finance voted to increase the reimbursement rate to help offset the withholding of taxes from not-overnight meals..  The rate changes take effect for all meals, not just taxable ones.  These changes are set to take effect for travel occurring after January 1, 2005.

In-State per diem rates:

Lunch, increase from $7.00 to $9.00
Dinner, increase from $11.00 to $12.00

Highway Patrol, increase from $10.00 to $12.00

Out-of-State per diem rates:

Breakfast, increase from $7.00 to $8.00
Lunch, increase from $10.00 to $11.00
Dinner, increase from $16.00 to $17.00

The Administrative Rules regarding employee travel reimbursements are 5:01:02:11 (Section 2) and 5:01:03:14 (Sections 2 and 4).  These can be found at http://legis.state.sd.us/rules/rules/0501.htm.
