Liza Clark
Chief Financial Officer, State of South Dakota
Commissioner, Bureau of Finance and Management
Liza Clark was appointed as the State of South Dakota's Chief Financial Officer by Governor Dennis Daugaard effective January, 2017. She also serves as the Commissioner of the State's Bureau of Finance and Management, and is a member of the Governor's Executive Committee.
Prior to being named Commissioner, she served as a Policy Advisor to Governor Daugaard on issues relating to labor and regulation, workforce development, human resources and higher education. She also previously served within the bureau in the capacity of Budget Analyst and was the Chief Budget Analyst for six years.
Clark also sits on a number of boards and committees including the Governor's Council of Economic Advisors, Governor's Legislative Task Force, the Unemployment Insurance Advisory Council, the Department of Labor Retirement Board, the State Board of Finance, and the Board of Internal Control.
A South Dakota native, Liza graduated from Miller High School and holds a B.S. in Finance and Economics from Northern State University and an MBA from the University of South Dakota. She and her husband Zach, a small business owner, live in Pierre with their daughters Kenzie and Izabelle. Liza enjoys spending time with her family, playing a variety of sports, and reading.
